Mark Warner - Artist & Tutor Newsletter (Summer 2018)

Painting at Aberystwyth

Welcome to the Summer edition of my newsletter!

Things remain busy and I have been doing a lot of painting both in and outside the studio.

Commissions, demonstrations, exhibitions, 1 to 1's and preparation for a lovely painting holiday in south west France this July.

Oh and plenty of painting!

Painting Holiday in South West France, July 2018! - Almost full... Still a couple of places.

I am very much looking forward to tutoring painting at St Jean Retreats in France this summer. It is set in 150 acres of its own woodland and overlooking the picturesque hilltop village of Cordes sur Ciel in the beautiful Tarn region of France.

At the time of writing the holiday is not quite full, (2/3 rooms left!) so why not join me and try out some 'plein air' painting and drawing. If you have always wanted to try painting and sketching on location with daily tuition, come and join us with a bit of luxury and great weather!

If you are interested or just want to know more, just drop me a line at brushmarkuk@gmail.com

Next Plein Air Workshop Painting in the Shropshire Hills - Saturday 2nd June 2018

At the time of writing.... only 3 places left.

Painting Workshop in the Shropshire Hills - 2nd June 2018

Recent Commissions....

It is always interesting when someone contacts me enquiring about a commission.

It is usually to paint a location that has a special meaning to them and they have seen my work in the gallery/exhibition or on my website.

I enjoy going to the location to get a feel for the place and a sense of the weather. I then either sketch/paint on site or work from photos taken on location back in the studio.

The following shows work on a recent commission in the studio and is an example of how I build up colour and work from distance to foreground. people often ask how I work and the process involved.

If you would like to enquire about a commission then just drop me an email and we can chat further...

Recent Painting Workshop - Expressive Colour with Still Life - Saturday 12th May 2018.

Experiment with vibrant colour!

A lovely group of people attended a (full) workshop exploring the use of colour within still life in a bolder way. We looked at colour choice as well as shadows and line within the composition. A great day. Well done to all.
