Summer 2019 I tutored a lovely 'Plein air' Painting Holiday near Limoges in South West France. (20th - 27th July 2019)
I am booked in at 'Shades of France' to tutor there again in June/July 2021!
In 2018 I tutored on a lovely Painting Holiday near Cordes-sur- Ciel, Tarn, France.
Set in the lush valley which overlooks the historic and picturesque hilltop village of Cordes-sur-Ciel in the heart of the beautiful Tarn region in south-west France, St. Jean is a stunning, large stone house nestled within landscaped gardens and meadows surrounded by over 150 acres of private hillside woodland.
With luxurious accommodation, gourgeous food and very welcolming owners, St Jean Retreats proved a perfect host for budding artists wanting to experiment with colour and technique. A lovely group sketched, painted, ate, drank and relaxed in a wonderful location, as well as visiting nearby towns of Albi and Saint Antonin.
We even took the opportunity to view the fantastic works of Toulouse Lautrec at the Lautrec Museum in Albi.

There is nothing like drawing and painting outside on location.
In Tuscany, I demonstrated numerous drawing and painting techniques with an emphasis on colour, line and atmosphere. The Watermill and its surroundings formed a beautiful backdrop to experiment with colour and drawing.
I am passionate about working outside, tutoring numerous day and residential plein air holidays. I try to lead by example, creating a relaxed and encouraging environment. I adore using colour
while interpreting the light, weather and a love for the materials. I work directly in the field (literally on many occasions!) from sketches created outside as well as notes and photographs taken on
Sketching is at the heart of my work: This is important in the development of a piece and on many occasions, forming an integral part of the painting itself. I work a lot on coloured grounds, incorporating aspects of mark-making and directional brushstrokes within the work. I continue to draw inspiration from the landscape, although subject matter can be broad and at times very different.
